Hi! I’m Ben Cummins, a transportation expert, data analyst, and researcher living in Silver Spring, MD.

My full-time job is to work with Amtrak and state agencies to improve passenger rail service throughout the U.S. I also do some scholarly work and research-driven popular writing. In my view, research leads to better decisions only when approached with the following convictions:

• Execution is more important than design
• Communicating an idea is more important than having an idea
• Good data is more important than a good model
